Pulp

I have a confession to make. I have voices inside my head. But I'm in good company. Ray Bradbury once wrote, "Many people hear voices when no one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing."

Although I’ve been a produced screenwriter for years with a string of independent films to my credit, I’ve only recently focused on the publishing world. Now I’m a published author as well. A graphic novel I penned was acquired by Andrews McMeel Publishing and will be released in the Spring of 2025 through Simon & Schuster.

I currently have three completed manuscripts looking for their forever home.

MINDBENDER

Speculative Fiction/Espionage/Drama/59,511 Words

In the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War and the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, in a time when the superpowers were deploying psychic spies behind the Iron Curtain to engage in intrigue and espionage, the CIA discovers a man who just may be the most powerful remote viewer of them all: an African American man serving a life sentence in the deep South, a man named John.

This first volume in a book series reminiscent of the JAMES BOND novels will be woven in the same somber cloth as author John le Carré's THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD. Cinematically, Mindbender tackles the same emotionally-weighty landscapes as Steven Spielberg’s MUNICH and Spike Lee’s BLACKKKLANSMAN.

In addition to the novel manuscript, I have a feature film screenplay adaptation, a TV pilot teleplay, and a thirty page miniseries bible that lays out the first four seasons.

THE GIRL AT THE END OF THE WORLD

Science Fiction/Young Adult/76,620 Word Count

Noa Ash, a lonely, biracial teenage girl making entries into her personal journal during an alien invasion of Earth, takes us on an astounding journey. After she is orphaned during an attack, Noa is sent to live with a stern grandmother she has never known on Shadow, a once sunny beach that was warped into a hellish place of fog and darkness by a meteorite shower. There, Noa finds an old surfboard and begins riding the beach’s cruel waves. As she learns to surf, Noa goes through a transformation of body and soul that turns her from a helpless noa-body into a true heroine.

But fate has an even stranger destiny in mind for Noa when she discovers an underwater cavern where an archaic robot from World War II lies rusting. Only the robot is not a robot. It's a vessel. To resurrect it, the only weapon on Earth Noa believes can stop the alien occupation, she will have to transfer her life force - her very soul - into the battered, metal hull to pilot it. Aiding Noa in her mission is a strange boy from another time. A boy who Noa finds herself inexplicably drawn to.

RACHEL

 Science Fiction/Horror/New Adult/40,241

It’s just an ordinary day at Rachel State University, where an unusual light in the night sky always leads to weekend-long UFO-themed keggers and campus-wide, drunken debauchery. But when you’re located just off the Extraterrestrial Highway near top secret military base Area 51, an ordinary day just isn’t very ordinary at all.

Then again, nothing’s ever been normal for Beauregard Quixote Freidkin, a RSU student of Mexican and German descent who, due to a life-altering encounter with a ghost website, has become a divining rod for the bizarre. And when Quixote begins to host a campus radio show where he spins retro Eighties music and explores campus mysteries and urban legends of the internet, he comes to the attention of some very strange people--as well as dark forces who don’t want their unholy mechanisms brought into the light of day by this freak king. Van Wilder meets Fox Mulder in dark and deliciously irreverent adventures in this book series.
